Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president and one of the contestant for the post of the president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that there was no misappropariation of accounts during his tenure of 11 years.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, he said his opponent Sarvottam Anchan had leveled baseless allegations against him. “I have been submitting all the accounts of Dakshina Kannada district Kannada Sahitya Parishat to the Kannada Sahitya Parishat. If there was any loophole in my functioning, I would not have received No objection Certificate (NoC) from the authorities to contest for the election. Few have been stating that the district Kannada Sahitya Parishat has received crores of funds from the state Kannada Sahithya Parishat. However, during 2011-12, the district unit has received a sum of Rs 9.60 lakh. This includes Rs three lakh for organising district-level Kannada literary meet, Rs 2.5 lakh for Dasa Sahitya Sammelan, Rs 1.5 lakh for research workshop, Rs 65,000 for maintenance,” he said.

“We have maintained an account of all our expenditure and the same has been audited by Charted Accountants before submitting the same to Kannada Sahitya Parishat. As Mangalore Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat has failed to conduct taluk-level Kannada meet, a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh was sent back to the Kannada Sahitya Parishat. There was transparency in all our activities,” he said.

In his manifesto, Kalkura has said that he will hold various programmes on literature to create interest among students.

A taluk-level students’ literary organisation will be set up to promote literary activities.

The activities of Kannada Sahitya Parishat will be taken to the village-level for guiding the schools to start Kannada Sangha to promote Kannada activities.

The manifesto also stressed to open library for Kannada books.
