Man creates e-mail ID to defame friend's wife

When Kalpana (name changed) began receiving obscene messages on her mobile phone and telephone calls from unknown people seeking sexual favours, she was shocked and perplexed.

Some people even knocked at her door and inquired if she would like to accompany them for a ‘night out’.

A happily married Kalpana became depressed and had to take treatment, as the messages would not stop.

When the messages and calls continued, her husband Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Krishnanagar colony here, decided to approach the police. Police then registered a complaint and began an investigation.

The investigations revealed that the culprit was none other than his one time close friend Mohammad Saud. He had created a bogus e-mail id in the name of Kalpana and had been sending obscene messages on her behalf. He was arrested on Saturday.

Saud told the police that he had been spurned by Kalpana when he sought sexual favours from her.

“Once I went to her home with a packet of sweets but she spoke rudely to me and did not even open the door, saying her husband was not at home,” Saud said. Kalpana later told her husband about Saud’s intention, following which they had fallen out.

An enraged Saud decided to teach Kalpana a lesson. He created a fake email-id and started sending mails and obscene messages to different people, which would make them ask her for sexual favours. “I wanted to defame her,” he told police.

A case has been registered against Saud under the cyber crime act and he has been arrested.
