A Delhi Police officer killed himself with his service revolver here, police said Thursday. He was apparently disturbed over some deaths in his family.

Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Raja Ram, 55, who was posted at west Delhi's Nangloi police station, shot himself around 2.30 a.m. on April 30, inside his residence. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

"No suicide note was recovered from his possession," said a police official. Initial inquiries revealed that he was disturbed over some deaths that had taken place in his family in the last few years, the official added.

According to a neighbour, a few days ago Ram had contacted an astrologer who told him that there could more deaths in his family.

"Since then he was disturbed and on April 30 he shot himself inside his room," added the neighbour.

Ram, who hailed from Rewari in Haryana, was staying in Nangloi's Veena Enclave for the last 25 years.
