The couple, married for the last six years, had a fight after Shabiha slapped their three-year-old who refused to have food. When her husband Nazir went out with the child, a depressed Shabiha allegedly took the extreme step.
Native of Jharkhand, they were working at a garment factory. Nazir came to Bangalore six years ago while Shabiha had moved to the City with the boy in 2008. Sources said, the couple, who were in good terms, used to leave the child with a caretaker in the neighbourhood before leaving for work. Peenya police have registered a case of suicide.
In another incident, a 22-year-old bride ended her life, just three days before her wedding.
Kasturi, daughter of a retired ITI employee, was engaged to a distant relative. A second PU passout, the girl had initially agreed to the proposal. Sources said, three days ago, she suddenly changed her mind. When her father sought to know the reason, she did not give a convincing reply. On Thursday night she hanged herself from the ceiling of her house. Srirampuram police have filed a case.
Goods gutted
Several bags containing plastic waste and tree leaves were gutted in a fire mishap at a plastic goods manufacturing unit in Chandra Layout police limits here on Friday morning.
There were eight workers inside Hindustan Plastic, belonging to Khan Patel, at Azizet Industrial Area when the incident happened. However, all of them managed to come out safely. The loss is stated to be around Rs one lakh, said the police.
One of the workers had reportedly smoked a beedi and thrown it on one of the bags before going to bed. The bag caught fire and the workers woke up when thick smoke filled the place.
Woman dies of burns
A 22-year-old woman, who was hospitalised with burns recently, died on Thursday.
Pushpalatha of Doddakallasandra in Subramanyapura was rushed to the hospital after her husband, Ravi (30) tried to set her ablaze following a quarrel.
The police have arrested Ravi, a car driver by profession. He married Pushpalatha one-and-half-years ago.
