<p>Though the ban on tinted glasses on vehicles in the City will be strictly enforced from May 20 as per the Supreme Court order, it isn’t a blanket ban.<br /><br /></p>.<p>M A Saleem, Additional Commissioner, Traffic, Bangalore told Deccan Herald that, the Supreme Court order has not imposed a blanket ban on tinted glasses.<br /><br /> “The order bans the use of any additional material on the glasses to curtail visibility.<br /><br /> But nowadays cars on road are factory made with glasses fitted with a permissible amount of visual light transmission (VLT). The stipulated standards are 70 pc VLT for the front and rear glasses and 40 pc VLT for the side glasses. <br /><br />Anything above these permissible limits is banned. Mainly any use of additional material or film on the glass to curtail its VLT is banned,” he clarified.</p>
