Summer workshops

ILeap Academy, Indiranagar, Bangalore is conducting the following summer workshops from May 14 to May 18, 2012.  

Artsy: This fun filled workshop has art and craft activities for children. They will explore colours and various styles of painting and tap the artist in them. The workshop is open for children between ages two and three and is from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. The fees for the course is Rs.1,500.

Book Making: In this workshop little authors will create their own books. It is open for children aged between four and six. The timings are from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. The fees for this is Rs. 2,000.

Secret Codes: Here children will form a secret club and create their own secret language. They will explore ancient code languages and their origins. They will decode secret codes, write post cards in their secret language, play treasure hunt, mystery story writing and many more such exciting games and puzzles. This is open for children between eight and 14 years of age and is from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The fees for this course is Rs. 2,200.

Children’s Theater: For children aged between six and eight, Lights, Camera, Action is a fun filled workshop featuring five days of fun exploring movement, acting, characterisation through characters from well known stories. Workshops will be conducted by a theater artist. The timings are from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm and the fees is Rs. 2,800.

Social Science Talent Search test

The Institute for Social and Economic Change and the Bangalore University have extended the last date for submitting applications for Social Science Talent Search Test to May 16, 2012. The applications are available on the ISEC website (www.isec.ac.in) Interested students are required to download the application form and send it along with a Postal Order or DD for Rs.100 drawn in favour of the Registrar, Institute for Social & Economic Change, Nagarbhavi, Bangalore 560 072 so as to reach him on or before May 16, 2012.

The talent search examination in social sciences is to offer scholarships to the top ranking 25 students conditional to their choosing to join BA courses for their graduate degree with social science subjects only in any first grade college falling under the jurisdiction of the Bangalore Division.

The scholarship will consist of Rs. 500 per month for 10 months for three years offered by the Bangalore University and Rs. 2,500 per annum offered by the Karnataka State Knowledge Commission. Further, the ISEC will conduct two orientation programmes.

International Law scholarships

Justus Liebig University Giessen, Germany is offering international summer courses in Law. Also on offer are 10 scholarships for undergraduate students and young professionals from India. Provided by Robert Bosch Stiftung, each scholarship will cover the entire programme fee including all seminars, field trips, accommodation and meals and much more. Five scholarships are for Intellectual Property and Biotechnology while the rest are for the Summer School in International and Comparative Law. The application form of the respective course along with two reference letters from professors and a letter of motivation must be sent through email to summerlaw@recht.uni-giessen.de in before May 21, 2012.

Design scholarship competition

Domus Academy and NABA, are extending international scholarships to graduate and post-graduate design students from around the world and are inviting Indian designers and students to submit applications. Starting October 2012, NABA is offering five scholarships worth US $60,000 exclusively for talented Indian students to pursue undergraduate studies in art and design. The Milan-based institutes offer courses across various areas of art and design including visual arts, graphics, fashion, business, accessories, interior, architectural, car, multi-media, interaction, film and new media, and photography.  

Beginning September 2012, the international scholarship competition will grant 33 winners the opportunity to follow post-graduate studies in Domus Academy. The scholarships are worth over US $400,000.  Indians who are interested in submitting applications for the scholarships must fulfill, among others, the admissions requirements for each university.

Kannada language classes

Jana Hitha Rakshana Samithi, Bangalore is proposing to conduct short-term Kannada language coaching classes for the benefit of non-Kannada speaking central and state government employees and also private employees who live in Bangalore.
