Media reports irk Menasinahadya residents

They have said that the reports are far from truth and from an outset it only looks like politically instigated reports. “Some months ago, we had resolved not to support the naxals during a meeting convened by the district administration in Menasinahadya and we are still clinging on to the resolution. Naxals have never come to our village so far. It is the police who have been pestering some people in the village alleging that they have contacts with the naxals,” said a villager on conditions of anonymity.

He says that there are people from various religions and castes including Gaudlu, Okkaliga, Naika, Brahmin and Jains but it is only the poor tribals who are becoming victims of police and the media.

“These reports are creating wrong impression about the people in Menasinahadya. The society will start looking at us with suspicion if such reports continue to be published,” says another resident who feels that it is a conspiracy to keep children of this area away from schools and to prevent tribals from entering Panchayat Raj system.

A written statement has been submitted by the villagers saying that the news that villagers of Menasinahadya have supported naxals is wrong.
