Four chain-snatching cases in 24 hours

Two unidentified persons, in an autorickshaw, accosted a woman on 13th main road, Indiranagar, and robbed her gold chain.

In Vijayanagar, two unidentified persons, on a bike, robbed Dr S Raju, a resident of RPC Layout, of his 40 gram gold chain when he was returning home from his clinic.

In Ramamurthynagar, two miscreants snatched the gold chain of Lalitha, a resident of Horamavu, worth Rs 35,000 when she was returning home after buying vegetables.

In Tilaknagar police limits, two persons followed Sunitha Bai, who was walking along with her children in Jayanagar 3rd Block, 12th main road, and snatched her gold chain and a cellphone worth Rs 60,000.

Two arrested for kidnap

The Wilson Garden police arrested two employees of Nandi Toyota for allegedly kidnapping a BMTC bus driver on Friday. The accused are Gopalkrishna (35) of Siddapura and Mallesh (40) of Kanakapura, while the victim is Rayappa (35).

According to the police, the duo were travelling in a new vehicle, when the BMTC bus touched it from behind on Hosur Road in Wilson Garden. The duo got down from the bus and picked up a quarrel with Rayappa.

They demanded Rs 5,000 towards the repair of their new vehicle. But when Rayappa turned down their demand, they dragged him out of the bus and forcibly took him with them in their vehicle.

The police swung into action and within an hour, arrested the duo and rescued the driver. The accused told the police that they did not kidnap him, but wanted him to compensate for damage he had caused to their new vehicle. Based on Rayappa’s complaint, the police have registered a kidnap case and have arrested the duo.

House ransacked

Jewellery worth Rs 8,000 was stolen from a house in Saraipalya on Friday night.
Mohammed Ajeem Ahmed had stepped out of his house to break his fast at 6 pm. On his return around 9 pm he found that the house was ransacked and a gold chain was missing. A case has been registered.
