3 officials suspended over ACF's murder

Three government staffers, including an assistant executive engineer (AEE) of Hescom, have been suspended over the killing of Dandeli ACF Madan Naik.

The suspended are Anandroopsingh Naik, AEE of the Ramadurga sub-division (Belgaum district) of Hescom, Aravindbabu Chauhan, community organising officer of the Dandeli City Municipality and Shylaja Chauhan, Aravindbabu’s wife and teacher at the Bhagavathi government high school of Haliyal taluk.

The three have been suspended after cases were registered against them at the Dandeli rural police station.

Meanwhile, B A Padmanayana, the CID DIG, visited the incident spot (the crocodile park at Halamaddi) and also the Dandeli rural police station, where he held discussions with the police officials over the incident. Superintendent of Police K T Balakrishna was present at the meeting.

Padmanayana told reporters that he would not divulge anything at this stage as investigations were underway and that there was no question of protecting the guilty.

When asked about the alleged involvement of S R Naik, the sub-inspector of the Tikota police station in Bijapur district, in the incident, Padmanayana said all aspects would be probed and that their aim was to ensure justice to the affected.

Report sent

Meanwhile, sources said that the district administration had sent a report over the incident to Kaushik Mukherjee, additional chief secretary to the State government.
