Three men have been arrested for allegedly killing a young woman and dumping her body at Lok Nayak Hospital campus in central Delhi last month, police said on Tuesday.

The highly decomposed, naked body of the victim in late twenties who is yet to be identified, was found near resident doctors’ hostel by a security guard on April 25. Police suspect that she was sexually assaulted before being killed.

The arrested men have been identified as Mohammed Simab alias Salman, 26, who hails from Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district and presently works with a printing press at Farash Khana area of central Delhi, Aarif, 24, a butcher who stays near the hospital, and Mohammad Yahya, 26, of Darya Ganj. One of their accomplice, Aasif, 25, is absconding.

They came in contact with the woman at LNJP Hospital itself, where she used to come for treatment. The youths, who used to loiter in the area, developed a friendship with the victim by offering  to help with her treatment, a police official said.

“Later, when they became good friends, the youths exploited the woman physically. Further investigation is on to ascertain the exact sequence of events prior to her death,” the official added.

The post-mortem report had earlier revealed that the woman’s throat was slit with a sharp-edged weapon. A case of murder and destruction of evidence is already registered at IP Extension police station.

Father’s claim

On May 7, a Hari Nagar Extension resident claimed that the body could be of his daughter. He told police that he had filed a missing person complaint at Jaitpur police station. Police are awaiting the forensic science laboratory report to his claims.
