‘I will be choosy’

Lara DuttaActress Lara Dutta, who recently gave birth to a baby girl, is all set to return to the silver screen in August but insists that she would be extremely choosy in doing movies. “I intend to get back to work by August this year. I am ready to jump in. It would be finalised soon. Since I have a daughter, the kind of movies I would do now will be different. I will be choosy. I will not do anything that would require me to be away from her for days,” said Lara. “Actresses not working after having kids is an outdated thing. We have Sridevi making a comeback after 15 years, then we have recently seen Karisma Kapoor. Konkana will also be seen in movies — that time has gone,” she said.

Lara gave birth to a baby girl in January this year. The actress-turned-producer married ace tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi in February last year. “Having a baby is a life-changing experience. Your priorities change and the baby becomes your focus. All decisions made are now keeping in mind our daughter,” Lara said.

Lara had formed a production company named Bheegi Basanti Entertainment earlier, under whose banner Chalo Dilli was made. “I will be producing another film under my banner by the end of the year. We are in the pre-production stage,” she said.

The 33-year-old actress has come up with a DVD on prenatal yoga exercises, even as she has been practising yoga herself for ten years.

She had a successful run with the first three DVDs in the ‘Heal with Lara’ series and now she is ready with her fourth DVD in the wellness category. “We shot it over a period of two days when I started my eight month of pregnancy. I think every woman during her pregnancy days must indulge in some way of exercising, be it yoga, swimming or walking. All this helps later on,” Lara said. “I am in the process of losing weight. Once I zero in on a right technique on this, I will share it with everyone,” she added.

Perfect for the role

Actor-director Satish Kaushik has bought the rights of Tamil film Pithamagan and plans to rope in Salman Khan, who worked in his 2003 hit movie Tere Naam, for the project. “Sometimes destiny has its own way. I have a nice script for Salman Khan which is much bigger than Tere Naam. I have bought the rights of Tamil film Pithamagan, which featured national award-winning actor Vikram who had also done the Tamil version of Tere Naam,” said Satish.

Tere Naam was the Hindi version of director Bala’s hit Tamil film Sethu, a tragic romantic tale that came in 1999. Released in 2003, Pithamagan was also directed by Bala and the cast included Surya.

“I have developed the script and I will soon narrate the script to Salman Khan. He is perfect for the character,” he added.

‘Aarav is very happy’

Twinkle Khanna is pregnant with her second child and husband Akshay Kumar says his son Aarav is happy that he is going to have a younger sibling. Elated about welcoming a new member to the family, the 44-year-old actor said he spends most of his time at home with Twinkle, who is expecting the baby in September this year. The couple tied the knot in 2001 and has a 11-year-old son Aarav.

“Aarav is too happy now as he will have a sibling at home,” said Akshay. The actor, who will next be seen in action film Rowdy Rathore, said he found it hard to shake a leg with director-choreographer Prabhu Deva in the film. “It was definitely difficult to work under his choreography. There is a South Indian touch in the film, with 70s style action and heavy dialogues. I just followed my director in the movie. They had a sketch in their mind for the role and I acted accordingly,” he added.

Cast opposite Sonakshi Sinha in the upcoming movie, Akshay praised the actress for her Indian looks and admired her professionalism.

“She is a beautiful girl with her own style of acting. I do not like the concept of size-zero. She is a voluptuous beauty and that is her plus point,” said Akshay. Rowdy Rathore, a
remake of Telugu film Vikramarkudu, is slated to release on June 1. Akshay will be seen playing a double role in the movie, which is an action-centric film with a tinge of comedy.
Akshay, the new face of a motorbike company, said he likes to spend his free time riding bikes and climbing rocks but requested the youngsters to be cautious with speed machines.

“My message to young people is to drive safely and be careful. Do not show off to girls as they say speed thrills but kills too,” said the actor, who is famous for performing all his stunts himself.

In search of new story

After the success of his last directorial ‘Rockstar’, Imtiaz Ali is now on the lookout for a new story.

Asked what’s keeping him busy these days, Imtiaz said, “I’m just trying to figure out my next story. So just working towards that.”

In the meantime, he has associated himself with Mangesh Hadawale’s Dekh
Indian Circus. He is impressed with the movie, and is spreading a word about the film to take it to a larger market.

Over 300 characters!

Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’, set to be screened at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival, has a whopping 370 characters. And more than half of them even have dialogues. “Out of these 370, almost 280 of them have dialogues in the movie,” said a source from the unit.

‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ is a two-part film and both parts will be screened at Cannes this year.

A thriller, it features actors like Jaideep Ahlawat, Manoj Bajpayee and Raima Sen, and narrates a tale set against the coal mafia in Dhanbad.
