The suspension comes following the recommendation of the Karnataka Lokayukta Additional Director General of Police that the 1998 batch officer possessed wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. The Lokayukta Police had raided residences owned by Hemanth Nimbalkar at Mumbai, Kolhapur and Belguam during March this year and the preliminary investigation revealed that the accused officer had amassed wealth to the tune of Rs 1.48 crore.
