Conquest 2012

BITS Pilani’s startup challenge, Conquest,  has started receiving entries.

The competition seeks to identify the best business ideas in India and award them with cash prizes and investment opportunities from angel investors around the globe.

Teams with new business ideas are invited to submit their applications through the event website (http://www.celbits.org/conquest/) on or before May 30, 2012, after which the top 35 teams, selected by a jury of entrepreneurs around the world, will be  invited to meet experts in their field. Students will attend one-hour sessions held in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.

The top 10 teams will present their business ideas before the investors in BITS Pilani on August 18 and 19, 2012.

This year, over Rs 4 crore is to be won as incentives by the 10 finalists, which includes  free website hosting and domain, free cloud telephone software for the top three teams worth Rs 24,000 each, a Rs 10-lakh seed fund for the top 10 ideas and office space anywhere in India for select startups.  Besides, there are cash prizes too for the winners and runners up.

Conquest 2012  has tied up with Aegis Centre for Entrepreneurship, Seedfund, The Hatch, Mumbai Angels, NEN, TiE and FL Ventures to provide such privileged opportunities to its participants. The top four student startups from the competition also get a direct entry into the finals of TiE All Asia Business Plan Competition to be held in February 2013.

Conquest is organised by students of  the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, BITS Pilani. All 10 finalists of last year are in business now and one of them, GharPay Pvt. Ltd. based in Hyderabad, has crossed  revenues of  Rs 1 crore.

Graduate programme 2012

Alltech announces the launch of the Alltech Graduate Development Program. The programme will recruit up to 20 applicants annually from around the world and prepare them for future managerial and leadership positions in the global agribusiness company.
The 12-month, salaried, executive programme begins with an intensive training period at the Alltech’s European Bioscience Centre in Dunboyne, Ireland and Alltech’s Global Headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. Following which, graduates will continue training and development, while simultaneously managing key company projects.

Workshop on Computational Fluid Dynamics

A ten-day workshop on Computational Fluid Dynamics, CFD will be conducted by IIT-Bombay at the Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology, Yelahanka, Bangalore from June 12 to 22, 2012. Those wishing to attend this course should register online at http://www.it.iitb.ac.in/nmeict/eoutreachhome.do.
