Mom'll head party if I'm held: Jagan

YSR Congress chief asks cadres not to resort to violence, and vote for party

With his arrest by the CBI on Friday appearing imminent, YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said his mother would take over the reins of his fledgling party if he was taken into custody.

Addressing a surcharged election meeting in Karampudi of Guntur district after the CBI Court rejected his anticipatory bail, Jagan dropped enough hints that his arrest is imminent. “By arresting me, the Congress is trying to create havoc across state, They will arrest me but neither Congress nor TDP will win a seat, God is watching,” a visibly shaken Jagan said.

However, he asked his cadres across the state not to resort to violence and show their anger by voting for YSRCP in the by polls. “In my absence, my mother and widow of YSR will take over my work in the party... people own as their son, brother.....they love me, they know what is happening in the state... The plan is hatched from Delhi and implemented step by step by CBI,” Jagan said.

The state machinery geared  up tackle any law and order  issues after the much anticipated arrest of Jagan after the AP High Court on Wednesday rejected the petition filed by him for postponing his interrogation by the CBI to mid-June, after the by-elections in the state will be over.

Meanwhile, the state police, on Wednesday, clamped prohibitory orders under section 144 in Hyderabad from Thursday morning till May 29. But now, as his arrival in Hyderabad on May 25 is inevitable, state police are preparing for a battle of sorts as intelligence inputs were pouring in that Jagan's supporters are planning to “show their strength”  after his arrest.

Arrangements are also being made for the bandobust for Jagan’s convoy from Guntur to Hyderabad  and it is likely that some roads may even be blocked to ensure smooth passage of the convoy, if he chooses to arrive by road, police said. Once Jagan’s questioning by the CBI is through, the focus of police will shift to the Special CBI Court in Nampally, where the Kadapa MP is expected to present himself  on 28 May.
