Kudagi land losers to get Rs 2 lakh more per acre

The meeting of farmers, district administration and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) officials held at the Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam office in Almatti on Saturday decided to extend an additional compensation of Rs 2 lakh per acre to the farmers who would be losing land for the Kudagi Thermal Power Station. 

MLA S K Bellubbi and Deputy Commissioner Shivayogi Kalasad announced after the meeting that additional compensation would be provided to the land losers. The government had announced Rs 5.25 lakh per acre of dry land and Rs 7 lakh per acre of irrigated land. The farmers had been demanding more compensation and they had been opposing to hand over the land for the project.

Discussions 

However, legislator S K Bellubbi and Deputy Commissioner Shivayogi Kalasad held discussions with the NTPC officials seeking more compensation for the farmers.

The affected farmers accepted the deal and have decided to withdraw the indefinite dharna planned near Kudagi from Saturday. Now the dry land would get Rs 7.25 lakh per acre and Rs 9 lakh per acre irrigated land.
