Inter-state gang held

The police arrested a gang of four from Kadari, Andhra Pradesh and recovered lakhs of rupees worth property and bikes. In addition, the North East division police arrested a total of 10 chain-snatchers and detected 50 chain-snatching cases reported in different parts of the City and recovered gold chains worth Rs 18 lakh.

The accused are - Ravindra Reddy of Anekal taluk, Suman Kumar of Bommanahalli, Anil Kumar of Begur, Sudarshan of Electronic City, Ishwar Achari of Srirampura, Subramanya Achari of Lakshminarayanpura, Ramesh of Garvebavipalya, Rajesh of Frazer Town, Murugesh of NAL Colony and Wadivelu of Konappana Agrahara. DCP (South-East) BNS Reddy said, the high-end model motorcycles were rotated among the gang. The high power engine helped them vroom in the dark after committing the crime. Police arrested 14 chain-snatchers in various parts of the City and recovered 56 gold chains worth Rs 22 lakh. The accused had robbed citizens in the last three months. Out of these, the South Division police arrested 10 persons, while the North Division police arrested one and East Division, three chain-snatchers.

Five citizens who assisted the police in detection of these cases were awarded cash prizes of Rs 5,000 each. A pistol has been recovered from one of the chain-snatchers, which he was using for threatening the public while snatching chains.  He is a native of Jodhpur.
