Suicide bid: Actor's wife too dies

In fact, Mangala had attempted suicide three days ago, but survived and was undergoing treatment in a private hospital. However, she failed to respond to the treatment and died on Thursday morning. Theatre artiste Shilanjana had acted in several popular Tulu comedy plays, committed suicide by hanging at Marakada on Wednesday.

75 LPG cylinders seized

As many as 75 domestic LPG cylinders stored illegally in a shop in the City have been seized by the officials of the Food and Civil Supplies department on Thursday.
Out of the total 75 cylinders, 35 were domestic (31 Indane and 4 HP) while 40 were auto kits. The shop was raided by the officials based on a complaint regarding the illegal refilling of the LPG cylinders. A case has been booked against the owner of the shop.

Pandu : 3 in custody

Police have taken into custody three persons for questioning over Pandu murder case, according to sources. The body of rowdy sheeter Pandu alias Panduranga Pai (38) was found with his throat slit near the Mangalore Junction railway station on Tuesday morning. A resident of Konchady, Pandu was wanted by the DK, Gujrath and Mumbai police for his involvement in several criminal cases.

Gold stolen

Gold and cash worth Rs 30 lakh has been stolen from the house of Sadananda Shetty, a resident of  Hunnebettu of Eliyanagoodu village in Venoor Police Station limits on Wednesday.

Shetty was not in his house when the incident occurred as he had gone to his relative’s house to attend Nemotsava.

He stated in a complaint filed at the Venoor Police station that Rs 33,000 and 28 sovereign gold were stolen from his house.

Man ends life

A villager, who consumed poison, died at the Government Wenlock Hospital on Wednesday.

Sesappa Moolya (50), a reisident of Ajjibettu near here, had consumed poison on May 5 and later he was taken to Wenlock Hospital. Venoor Police has registered a case.

7,000 sachets seized

Excise officials have seized around 7,000 illicit liquor sachets and arrested one person in this connection.
