5-yr RI for killing mother-in-law

The fourth additional sessions court has sentenced a man, who had killed his mother-in-law, for five years rigorous imprisonment.

Srikantamurthy, husband of Sharada, a resident of 9th Cross, Ashokapuram, is the one who is sentenced.

He was picking up quarrel with his wife frequently demanding a divorce. On May 7, 2011, he came to the house of Sharada and demanded her to sign on the divorce papers as he wanted to marry another woman.

He threatened that if she did not sign he would kill her. At this juncture, Sharada’s mother Thimamma intervened.

Srikantamurthy started abusing his mother-in-law and attacked her brutally. As a result she died. The judge Kamala has sentenced him to five years and also imposed a fine of Rs 8,000. Public prosecutor H S Chinival appeared on behalf of the government.
