BJP govt not favouring teachers: HDK

Last Updated 04 June 2012, 19:00 IST

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy said the state BJP government is following an anti-teachers policy. He urged teachers to teach BJP a fitting lesson in the ensuing elections.

Addressing a media conference here on Monday, Kumaraswamy said BJP has failed to yield to demands of teachers.

Teachers from north Karnataka have taken up a fast for two months, while others have participated in a padayatra from Hubli to Bangalore, but the state government has failed to listen to their grievances.

Supporting JD(S) candidate Marithibbegowda, he said the latter had already served twice and had worked for the welfare of teachers.

The present elections will set the tone for the assembly elections, he added.
MLC Puttanna alleged that primary and secondary education minister Visveshwara Hegde is providing wrong information during the election campaign.

Kageri is projecting the work of Kumarswamy as his own, Puttanna added.
Marithibbegowda, MP Chaluvarayaswamy, former minister M Shivanna, former MUDA president P Govindaraju, state JD(S) youth unit president Madhu Bangarappa, MLA S R Mahesh and others were present.
