Custody of Jaggaiah, Venkaiah extended

The Special Lokayukta Court on Monday extended the judicial custody of Jaggaiah and Venkaiah, accused in irregularities in the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) scam, to June 16.

Both of them had been apprehended by the Lokayukta police on Saturday, after being on the run for more than a year.

The two are accused along with Katta Subramanya Naidu, his son Katta Jagadish and others in irregularities in land acquisition by KIADB, for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 87 crore to allot 325 acres of land in Bandikodigehalli to Itasca Software Development Company.

Jaggaiah and Venkaiah are wanted for floating a benami company Indu Builders and Developers, opening bank accounts in the company’s name and for forging the signatures of land owners who were granted compensation and cheating them of their money.

They are also accused of getting consent letters from the land owners by threatening the owners that false cases would be registered against them and threatening them of dire consequences.
