The police have concluded that the missing case lodged eight months ago at the KG Halli police station is a murder. They have arrested three persons in this connection.

A complaint was lodged that Mohammed Siraj, 19, had gone missing under mysterious circumstances on October 3, 2011. Siraj was running a tailoring shop in K G Halli. Sources said Siraj’s family members suspected the involvement of Wasim Amir, 22,
who frequented Siraj’s shop. On interrogation, Amir spilled the beans.

Ayesha Banu, 38, was working as a tailor in Siraj’s tailoring shop. Ayesha allegedly had an affair with Siraj, who was pressuring her to marry him. But Ayesha was already married to Abdul Ghani, presently living in the Gulf. Ayesha has a son and daughter who are older than Siraj. Though Ayesha tried to convince against the marriage, Siraj was adamant and even tried to blackmail her. That is when Ayesha decided to bump him off her way.

Ayesha called Siraj to her house on October 3, 2011. She gave him a soft drink in which she had mixed poison and he died on the spot after drinking it. Ayesha took the help of Amir, her daughter’s boyfriend and Arifulla, 22, her nephew, to dispose of the body, police said. The trio packed the body in a gunny bag and took it with them in a bus to Harihara near Davangere, from where they all hailed, they added.

They got down near Amaravathi village of Harihara. They threw the body into the Siddaveerappa water canal and fled. After four days, Arifulla returned to the canal and traced the body. He buried it on the banks of the canal.

Based on information given by Amir, the police arrested Ayesha and Arifulla. The police took the three to the spot where Arifulla had buried the body. The remains were exhumed in the presence of the Harihara tahsildar.
