MLA G Somashekhara Reddy alleged on Tuesday that certain political interests were working overtime to “finish off” their family. The Congress governments at the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh as also the BJP government in the State had been working against them and this was why certain allegations were being made against the Reddys.

Reports about the CBI judge, Pattabhirama Rao, being bribed so as to secure bail for former minister Janardhana Reddy were politically motivated, the MLA said. He said that the CBI had not contacted him over the incident.

Addressing a press conference in the city, Reddy said he had nothing to do with the bribery charges being made against CBI judge. The Reddys were not responsible for the incident of crores of rupees being found in the bank locker of the son of the CBI judge, he said.

He was away in Hyderabad to discuss with lawyers about securing bail for Janardhana Reddy, Somashekhara Reddy said. “But, some people tried to create an impression that I have fled the country,” the MLA said. Such reports were concocted by the media, he said, adding that they had hatched a conspiracy against the Reddys.

He alleged that some political leaders at the Centre were trying to prevent senior lawyer Ram
Jethmalani from appearing for Janardhana Reddy. Yet, Jethmalani had agreed to appear for his brother, Somashekhara Reddy said.

Somashekhara Reddy said he stayed in Hyderabad’s star hotels to discuss with lawyers about securing bail for Janardhana Reddy, and that he was not in touch with rowdies, political leaders or ministers in the Andhra Pradesh government.
