Moily had opposed superseding of CB Pur CMC

Union Minister Veerappa Moily opposed superseding of the Chikkaballapur City Municipal Council and had even written a letter to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa against it in 2010. The issue, however, has come to light now.

The then District-in-Charge Minister Mumtaz Ali Khan had recommended superseding of the Council. JD(S) district unit General Secretary P Srinivas, former CMC member Ameer Mohammed Sadik and C V Manjunath have accused Moily of preventing the superseding.

They said on May 27, 2010, Moily wrote  to Yeddyurappa to counter a letter written by Khan demanding superseding of the Council. Moily had stated the people of the city were content with the functioning of the Council. Khan, however, is angry with the Council members for not giving good support to him. Hence, he is making reckless comments and seeking  superseding of the Council, he had stated.

The recommendations made by the senior politician is undesirable. If the government heeds to the recommendation and supercedes the local body, it can lead to law and order problem in the region in future, Moily had stated.
