TDP: Jagan robbed Rs 16 lakh cr govt money

Through lands and mines owned by state

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday urged the Andhra Pradesh government to order a probe against Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy, alleging that he and his benami firms have accumulated a record breaking revenue of Rs 16,63,400 crore from government land and mines worth Rs 33,935 crore when his father and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, was at the helm of affairs.

Presenting the report to the press at the party headquarters here on Saturday, TDP leader Dadi Veerabhadra Rao said that Rs 17 lakh crore is the amount acquired from lands and mines owned by the government.

“The uncrowned prince of corruption through his benamis laid hands on 94,038 acres of agricultural land and assigned 1,81,079 acres of mines using his father’s power. We demand the government to cancel all the illegal allotments and deals,” the Telugu Desam Party leader demanded.

TDP in its findings, which it said would be submitted to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) pointed out that YS Rajasekhara Reddy, had mentioned his assets to the tune of Rs 2.4 crore in 2004, whereas, during the same period, YS Jaganmohan Reddy showed assets worth Rs 9.9 lakhs only.

“Surprisingly, within a few years into power, Jagan not only paid an advance income tax of Rs 85 crore in 2010 and in the affidavit filed in 2011 by-polls, he also showed assets worth Rs 445 crore,” the report said.

The TDP said that the revenue from mines has been calculated based on the data provided by the Indian Bureau of Mines.
