The car in which Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde was traveling met with an accident at Kalanayanakatte in Koppa taluk on Sunday morning.
The car was traveling from Udupi to Central Coffee Research Institute in Koppa where Hegde was supposed to attend a programme.
The car fell into a gorge as the driver tried to give way to another vehicle plying from the opposite direction, near Kalanayanakatte bridge. The MP and the driver have escaped scathe free in the incident.
