Brace up for water crisis from tomorrow

Water supply will be affected in the entire City for three days (from June 12 to 14), owing to maintenance work scheduled to be taken up by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). However, water supply will not be completely hit during this time.

According to BWSSB schedule, Cauvery water project stage I and II pumping stations will be switched off from 10 am and 4 pm on Tuesday. Water supply to Bangalore South, Central and parts of West will be affected by the shutdown.

Cauvery water project stage III pumping station will be switched off from 10 am and 6 pm on Tuesday. Water supply to Bangalore Central, North, parts of South and East will be affected by the shutdown. Cauvery water project stage IV pumping station will be switched off from 10 am and 4 pm on Tuesday. Parts of Bangalore South, West and Eastern region will be affected by the shutdown.

During the shutdown, the BWSSB will be taking up linking work between Cauvery water supply stage IV phase, one and two. The pipelines will be laid at Netkal balancing reservoir and Thorekadanahalli (TK Halli).

Repair work will be taking up at TK Halli stage one pumping station. Work related to linking of pipelines at Harohalli and Tataguni from Cauvery water project stage III to the two pumping stations will be taken up. BWSSB will also be attending to leakage work at Stage I pump delivery valves.

The Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) will be simultaneously taking up linking work of power transmission from 220 kv station to Cauvery IV stage II phase pumping station lines.

Work on plugging oil leakages from 50 MVA transformer at Harohalli 220 kv sub-station will also be taken up during the shutdown.
