Delhi Police have arrested a 20-year-old man from Anand Parbat for allegedly killing a youth in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district for having a relationship with his sister.

Aslam was held after ‘slum panchayat’, an initiative of central district police for community policing, informed cops on Saturday that a man was moving around at Anand Parbat area in suspicious manner.

“He was in search of shelter and job, and also had abrasion and scratches on his face,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastva, additional commissioner of police (central).

He was brought to Anand Parbat police station and was interrogated at length.

Initially, he tried to misguide cops that he received scratches on his body while swimming in a river.

“But on sustained interrogation, he broke down and confessed his involvement in the killing of Rohit Singh at Azamgarh on June 5,” Srivastva added.

Aslam told police that Rohit was having a relationship with his sister, which he objected to.

He later hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Rohit after he paid no heed to his repeated warnings.

On the June 5, Aslam along with his accomplices – Sadre Alam, Narender Singh, Santosh and Rinku – lured Rohit to consume liquor.

“As per plan, when Rohit was under the influence of alcohol, Sadre and Narender caught hold of his arms and legs, while Aslam slit his throat with a dagger,” Srivastva said.

They later dumped the body in nearby sugarcane fields and fled from the spot.

A case of murder, kidnapping and causing disappearance of evidence of offence is registered over the death at Atroulia police station in Uttar Pradesh.
