Litigations delaying work: Metro

Litigations involving land acquisition at Minsk Square have affected Metro construction work for more than eight months now.

In its latest newsletter, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), has stated: “Progress at these locations is slow and behind schedule and can affect the overall completion of the underground station.”

The Karnataka High Court is expected to hear the case this month. On Reach-3B, construction work on a stretch of 500 metres has been held up due to litigations over land acquired by the NHAI.

The BMRCL has impleaded in the case for early disposal. The litigation has affected the viaduct work at Dasarahalli.

However, the Supreme Court dismissing a special leave petition challenging land acquisition for the Soap Factory Station on the northern line has come as a big relief for the BMRCL.

“We have made headway in one critical issue affecting construction work in the northern line.

A writ appeal before the High Court of Karnataka challenging land acquisition had been dismissed earlier in May and subsequently, the SLP filed before the Supreme Court was also dismissed,” the newsletter said.
