Even as the UPA announced Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee as its candidate for Presidential elections, former Lok Sabha speaker P A Sangma ignored advice from his party – NCP and asserted that he is the fray.
"I am in fray as a tribal candidate, not as an NCP candidate," Sangma, he told reporters here.
NCP General Secretary D P Tripathi met Sangma and told him that the party will support the UPA candidate, suggesting that he opt out of the race. BJP leader L K Advani said he will take a decision on sangma after consulting his party and NDA.
