19-yr-old rescued from GB Road

Delhi Police have rescued a 19-year-old girl, who was about to be sold at a G B Road brothel by her boyfriend and four of his friends.

The victim, a budding singer from Haryana’s Kaithal district, came to the national capital after her boyfriend told her that he could help her audition in Indian Idol, a singing reality show.

Cops were patrolling near G B Road in Kamla Market on Saturday evening when they spotted a woman standing alone.

When they asked her why she was there, the girl told them she had been left behind by her boyfriend and four of his friends.

The five men had fled from the spot after seeing the cops on patrolling duty.

On further questioning, the woman said she had a passion for singing and wanted to audition for Indian Idol.

She was not aware that the auditions were held on March 30 and 31, and that she had been brought to the city to be sold at one of the brothels at G B Road, notorious for being the center of prostitution rackets.

Cops have sent her to a shelter home at Mandi House and informed her parents.

A senior police official, however, said that no case has been registered over the matter, as the woman says that she was not allured by anyone.

“Her parents are on their way to the city to take her home,” the official added.
