With a view to check illegal mining in the area, 15 sensitive villages have been identified in Haryana’s Faridabad district which would be under constant surveillance by authorities.

Faridabad District Administration on Sunday warned that illegal mining of sand in the bed of river Yamuna would not be tolerated. Those found indulging in such acts and caught by the district task force during its raids would invite stern action, an official
spokesman said here.

The villages which have been identified as sensitive are Basantpur, Agwanpur, Dadsiya, Kidawali, Moujabad, Dalelpur, Rajpur Kalan, Alipur Shikargah, Tilori, Amipur, Manjhawali, Ghudasan, Chandpur, Arua and Chhainsa.
Sarpanchs, patwaris, incharge of concerned police station and gram sachivs of these villages have been asked to check illegal mining and would be held answerable for any lapse.

The spokesman said the police would also keep vigil on bridges -- Palla, Khedi, BPTP, Sihi and Chandawali -- on Agra canal and Gurgaon canal.

Recently, Haryana Police constable Mahavir Singh was run over by a truck loaded with sand in Faridabad district. It was alleged that he was crushed to death by a member of the sand mafia when he had attempted to stop the vehicle near Badarpur border in Faridabad on June 11.
