Punjab BJP to court arrest against fuel price hike

Responding to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s  call for nationwide jail bharo andolan against the fuel price hike, party’s Punjab unit has decided to court arrest in all 22 district headquarters in the state on June 22.

MLA Ashwani Sharma, who is also president of the party’s state unit said, petrol price hike of Rs 7.50 per litre was unprecedented and has increased the woes of people.
“It has accelerated the vicious circle of price rise. The sliding of rupee compared to US dollar is adding more trouble,” he said.

Media in-charge Vineet Joshi said, national leaders Shanta Kumar and Balir Punj will spearhead the agitation in the state.

Joshi said the state president has deputed state-level leaders to lead the agitation at all the headquarters.

Sharma added that after Bharat Bandh, BJP has decided to intensify the agitation in the form of jail bharo andolan on June 22 with the slogan petrol ki kimata wapis lo, yaa phir jail do.

The state president will lead the agitation in Pathankot.
