Man held for stealing computers

An engineering dropout, who was into selling used computers, was arrested by Rajgopal Nagar Police recently for stealing computers from several offices in the City.

The arrested Krishna alias Rajashekar, 22, a native of Chinatamani in Chikkaballapur district, had dropped out from the college after he failed in many subjects in the third semester. His elder sister is working with a leading IT firm in the City as a software engineer.

After discontinuing his studies, Krishna started a business selling second hand computers because of family pressure. Soon he was earning on par with his techie sister. But, the true story came out when he was arrested by the Rajgopal Nagar Police.

Krishna used to break into offices at night and steal computers. He used axle blades to cut the railings of the windows of offices and steal computers. According to police sources, he worked alone and used to target only offices which had many computers.

Krishna had stolen nearly ten computers in one go from some offices. In the beginning, he sold them only to his friends and soon developed an external customer base. He would sell the computers for anything between
Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000.

50 computers

Rajgopal Nagar Police recovered nearly 50 computers that he had sold to various unsuspecting customers in the City. Computer accessories like LCD monitors, printers, laptops and other goods worth about Rs 12 lakh have also been recovered.
