Rajesh brace powers KGF

Last Updated 24 June 2012, 17:41 IST

KGF Sports Academy rode on Rajesh’s brace to register a comfortable 3-0 victory over Karnataka State Police (KSP) in the BDFA Super Division League match at the Bangalore Football stadium here on Sunday.

KGF are now second in the points table with 10 points from five matches while KSP’s dismal campaign so far left them with just four points from as many games. Hindustan Aeronautics Sports Club, who finished their league assigments last week, remain on top with 20 points from nine games.

Stephen struck the first goal in the fifth minute for KGF after which Rajesh came up with his double in the 30th and 44th minutes.

KGF dominated the game as Stephen and Rajesh made inroads into the KSP defence through the right wing in the early stages.

In the fifth minute, Stephen latched on to a Madhu Karan pass to open the account with a simple tap-in.

The Policemen, however, had a good chance to equalise in the 20 minute but Sampath Kumar shot over. Rajesh fired in the second goal off Amoes pass in the 30th minute as KGF upped the ante.

Rajesh notched up his second, slamming the ball home off a Kalandar pass just a minute before the interval as KGF went in with a confortable 3-0 lead.
The second half was rather uneventful as KSP’s struggles to make a comeback were thwarted at every instance.

KSP captain Pradeep BV did try in vain to reduce the lead in the last ten minutes. However, KGF held on to wrap up a fine win.

Other result: ‘A’ Division: AGORC: 3 (Praveen 28th, Muralidaran 35th, Vikram 42nd) bt RBI: 1 (Payong 22nd).
