Up against

Kangana Ranaut may have been thankful for snagging a role in Madhuri Dixit’s much-touted new film, Dedh Ishqiya, but the going hasn’t been all that easy of her.

The latest rumour doing the rounds is that the actress has been feeling very insecure about her dancing skills of late — especially when compared to Madhuri, who has long been called the dancing diva of tinsel town.

Apparently, ever since she was told she might have to dance along with Madhuri for a small song sequence in the movie, she’s secretly feared she might be completely overshadowed — which is why Kangana has been spending her time picking up new dance moves and perfecting her posture.

Dedh Ishqiya, which is a sequel to the hit Vidya Balan-starrer Ishqiya, has been much awaited ever since plans pertaining to the film were announced. Apart from Madhuri and Kangana, Arshad Warsi and Naseerudin Shah will also play key roles in the movie.

Sunny’s new film

Sunny Deol happily posed for the shutterbugs at the recent music recording launch of his next film, ‘Singh Saheb the Great’, directed
by his close friend Anil Sharma.

Everyone present swayed to music director Anu Malik’s and lyricist Jalees Sherwani’s catchy compositions for the film.

Mika and Mamta Sharma added some tadka by lending their melodious voices to these tunes. The film writer of ‘Singh Saheb the Great’, Shaktiman, was praised for his work in the film.

The event was attended by the who’s who of tinsel town, including veteran actor Prem Chopra, Riteish Deshmukh, Amrita Rao, Neeraj Pathak, Salim Akhtar, Vishwajeet Pradhan and Anna Singh.

Chased off by Sanjay

Prakash Raj has already made a name for himself when it comes to portraying villainous characters — be it in films like Salman Khan’s ‘Wanted’ or Ajay Devgan’s Singham. This was probably why the makers of Sher, starring Sanjay Dutt, thought of bringing the Southern star on board to play a pivotal role in the film. But now, just as director Soham Shah has begun to hoo the movie, Prakash has apparently decided to walk out of the project.

Soham Shah and the film’s producer, Hiren Gandhi, had apparently visited Prakash while he was in Bangalore last month.

At the time, the script that they narrated to him appeared to please him, since his character had both a strong as well as an elaborate role. But once the shooting began, the actor felt short-changed. He realised that his role had undergone a lot of changes and had been cut down drastically, making it much smaller. If industry insiders are to believe, Sanjay Dutt — who is also part of the movie — is the reason behind this change.
After all, his rather dramatic tiff with Ram Gopal Verma — who insisted that the actor pushed for too many changes in his mega-flop, ‘Department’ — was based on very similar grounds.

Prakash says, “It’s sure that I am not doing Sher. If  I have said that I am not doing the film, I don’t need to give any other details.”

Hard-hitting look at crime

The first look of Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal was recently unveiled — and many known faces of tinsel town came together to boost the morale of producer Aparna Hoshing, writer-actor-director Manish Vatsalya and the cast and crew of the film, including Ravi Kishan, Hazel Crowney, Yashpal Sharma, Ganesh Acharya, Murali Sharma, Sharad Saxena, Rahul Kumar, Pooja Welling and composer Siddhant Madhav. Also present were comedy Queen Bharti, Reyna Vashishta, Ashmit Kunder, Pitobash Tripathy, Aanaahad Singh and Dayal Nihalani.

Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal is a hard-hitting gangster movie, which shows the horrid realities of underworld crime as well as the changing trends in Bihar. Originating from the dark and gruesome underbelly of Bihar, Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal is a story of the conscientious journey of four outlaws, who set out to Mumbai for a mission and take a route which very few can think of.

Their ambitious plan, however, comes to a screeching halt when one of them has a change of heart and their lives take an eventful turn.

Do not disturb!

Salman Khan has always been known for his somewhat forceful nature — but this time, the star seems to have taken this well-known trait to all new heights. Of late, the actor is rumoured to have been giving excessive inputs and rather strong suggestions on the sets of his movies.

And now, Salman has issues a new dictum — hanging up the proverbial ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign. A source from the unit of Ek Tha Tiger, which has been much talked about because it stars both Salman as well as ex-flame Katrina Kaif, has reported that Salman has insisted on not being summoned for anything while he is in his vanity van — not even for a shot.

Instead, the entire unit has no choice but to wait for the actor to present himself. This holds firm even if it means delaying the entire shoot, adds the source.
