After overnight rain forced the match into a 14-overs-a-side affair, Brigadiers, asked to bat first, amassed a whopping 142 for five. Required to score more than 10 runs per over, Maharaajas failed in their venture, finishing at 116.

Medium pacer Dilip Sagar was the destroyer in chief, taking 5 for 17 in three overs.
A packed house might have expected their side to come up with a fine effort on a slightly damp morning, but they wilted under the onslaught of Nishant Shekhawat (81, 49b, 7x4, 4x6).

The Swastic Union (1) right-hander played an exceptional innings laced with powerful shots all around the park. But Abrar Kazi received special attention from him. Shekhawat smashed the left-arm spinner for 6,4,4,6 in the bowler’s second over as Brigadiers motored away at a breakneck speed.

Shekhawant discovered a perfect ally in Robin Uthappa and the duo realised 59 runs for the second wicket as Brigadiers posted a formidable total. With their three main batsmen back in the hut for just 23 runs Maharaajas’ fate was sealed
