Karagas to be taken out in the city amidst chanting of hymns

Rituals will be performed at Pampinakere on Saturday evening and the karagas will be then taken for rounds in the city. This year, Dasara Committee has decided to embellish Pampinakere-Mahadevapete route and welcome the Karagas amidst recital of hymns.

Preparation for construction of mantaps to add to the glitz of festival has started. The Mantapa Samitis too are putting in their best in the quest of vying for the award. Stages for cultural programmes are being put up at Gandhi Maidan and Kaveri Kalakshethra. While programmes will be held at Kaveri kalashethra till September 26, programmes will be held at Rangamandira on September 27 and 28.

Galleries are under construction outside Kaveri Kalakshethra and police station for convenience of the people to watch Shobhayathre of Dashamantapas.

Town Municipal Council has decided to fill the potholes on the road for the smooth movement of the Dashamantapas but the rains which have been lashing without a break has caused problem in execution of the works.

Cultural programmes has a new event called ‘Yuva Dasara’ this year and as a part of this, a DJ nite programme will be held on September 26 at Rangamandira. Dasara Multi lingual poets’ meet will be held on Sunday at Kaveri kalashethra, which will be inaugurated by renowned writer Mogalli Ganesh. Over 110 poets from various parts of state will take part in the programme.

Publicity for Madikeri Dasara too has gone hi-tech. This year Samiti has tried to reach out to larger audience by posting invitations for Dasara on the website. With this, Samiti is expecting greater turn up of tourists.

Manatapa Samitis have spent about Rs 5 lakh per Mantap. State Government has announced that it would release Rs 40 lakh for Madikeri Dasara this year but no funds have been released so far.

It may be recalled that State Government had released Rs 30 lakh for Madikeri Dasara last year.

 The Samitis are waiting for the government to release the funds so that they can put up a great show.
