Nanavati panel seeks phone details from Modi's office

The Commission, comprising Rtd Justices G T Nanavati and Akshay Mehta, issued the order yesterday on an application by an NGO, Jansangharsh Manch (JSM), representing some of the riot victims.

JSM, in its application, had contended that CMO officials were in constant contact with some of the accused, including former VHP leader Jaidip Patel and Babu Bajrangi, in the riot cases.
The NGO had asked the Commission to summon Modi and the CMO officials for questioning in connection with the riots, triggered by torching of Sabarmati Express on February 27, 2002.

The probe panel, which completed the hearing on the application in July this year, has reserved its order.
