When creativity is the buzz in most of the fields, how can the way to reach authorities concerned go without a touch of innovative method.

Members of Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha Constituency Youth Congress Committee on Wednesday staged a novel protest to highlight the apathy of the government in creating employment for the growing number of graduates and post-graduates.

Chairman of the committee P N Chetan clad in silky white dhoti and shirt, and Mysore Peta stirred a vessel of puffed rice to make churmuri, a popular chaat.

The venue was Gandhi Square. For plates, he rolled mark sheets in a cone shape and filled the chaat in the same.

“The markscards and certificates awarded for the successful degree and PG students are meant only to fill the chaat, not for any other purposes,” alleged Chetan after handing over a packet of the same to his friends.

The varsities are producing graduates like a factory, who are returning to their natives after many unsuccessful attempts to get job.

The government has also failed to create employment opportunities.
Amid this, the present government has increased the retirement age to 60, another reason for the rise in unemployment.

District vice-president of youth Congress Prashant Gowda, leaders J Srinath Babu, Ajay Shastri, R Nagendra, Prasad, Ravichandran and others were present.

ESI hospital on sick bed

District committee members of Centre for Indian Trade Unions (CITU) staged a protest in front of the ESI Hospital on KRS road in the city on Wednesday, condemning the pathetic state of the system. Owing to lack of staff, the  patients are put in a fix.

That apart owing to defunct x-ray and scanning facilities, the patients are forced to look outside for the services. There is also shortage of equipment for surgery.

The medicines sold here are also of no quality and in some cases patients are referred to other hospitals, the activists alleged.

President of CITU Somashekar, secretary V Somashankar, treasurer M Annappa were in the lead of protest.

‘We want lokayukta’

Members of Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) staged a protest for the early appointment of Lokayukta.

The anti-corruption body of the State is a model to other States, but is being weakened by delaying the appointment to the coveted position, the agitators alleged.
The post has remained vacant for the past eight months, thanks to the state government which is unable to arrive at a consensus in the interest of people of the state.
District president of the party Tabraiz and others were present.
