A Nigerian national has been arrested at Dwarka in south-east Delhi for drug trafficking in the city and 400 grams heroin, worth Rs 40 lakh has been recovered from him.

Christian Asieme Nsofor, 39, who lives at rented accommodation in Nawada village, was held after an information on Tuesday that a foreign national involved in drug trafficking would come near Dwarka Mor to deliver drugs to his client.

“A trap was laid on this information and Christian was apprehended with 400 grams of heroin,” said Sanjay Kumar Jain, deputy commissioner of police (crime and railways).
Christian told police that he was a farmer in Nigeria and came to India in 2010 to earn quick money. “He had first gone to Mumbai on a business visa to start a textile trade, but could not start it,” Jain added.

During his stay in Mumbai, he came in contact with a fellow Nigerian, named Derry, who had been arrested in 2006 for possessing 15 grams of cocaine.

Christian claims that Derry lured him into drug business and asked him to come to Delhi.
“Derry used to meet Christian at Nawada and supplied him heroin and cocaine for further supply to his clients,” Jain said.

A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered.
