Decision on aid to coffee growers soon: Bopaiah

He opens co-op society at Hunsur

 The government will take the decision pertaining to provide financial aid to coffee plantation at the earliest, said Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah.

He was speaking after inaugurating the commercial complex of Kodagu Coffee Growers’ Co-operative Society at B M Road in Hunsur on Thursday. He insisted the Kodagu Coffee Growers’ Association to make the best use of the income generated from various resources and help for the revival of the Coffee Growers’ Co-operative Society. The Central government has released Rs 700 crore to the State based on Vaidyanatan report of which Rs 5.35 crore has been released to Kodagu district, he informed.

Hunsur MLA H P Manjunath said that in the competitive era, the co-operative societies are prone to face several problems. Amidst the problems, the co-operative societies should witness development.

Hunasur Town Municipal President Manjula Channabasappa appreciated the efforts of the Society in providing employment to the locals and boosting self-empowerment. Society President M B Devaiah said that the Society has incurred a loss of Rs 14 crore and attempts are made to strengthen the Society with the help of elected representatives.
