Blend of folk and contemporary

A clip from the show. The second season of ‘Coke Studio’ premiered on July 7 at 7 pm on MTV. The first show opens with Clinton Cerejo’s magic, as he takes viewers on an incredible musical journey.

The music producer and his set of musicians present a line-up, which includes a mix of acclaimed and upcoming folk singers like Vishal Dadlani, Sonu Kakkar, Nandini and Saawan Khan. They will come together to dole out original compositions.

While Vishal Dadlani and Sonu Kakkar will perform the song Madaari, which has folk notations coupled with a subtle, modern undertone, the highlight of the episode is something else entirely — a jam session between Clinton and Saawan Khan, to the song Saathi Salaam. The song will reflect folk music touches, seamlessly integrated with Clinton’s modern version of the same lyrics.
