Golden jubilee gift to slum kids

Celebrating 50 years of existence, the Bengalee Association, on Saturday pledged to play a distinctive role in the society by taking up the inter socio-cultural causes. On providing education, Achintya Lal Roy from the Association said. “We have identified a slum at Whitefield, which comprises 1,000 families with more than 300 children who cannot afford education. The Association decided to provide school, teachers and study materials to the children and hence talked to the families, who are convinced and willing to send their wards to the school that will be set up”.

BBMP Commissioner, Bharatlal Meena who inaugurated the golden jubilee celebration said that importance has to be given to propagate culture and heritage by social bonding. Nine founder members  of the Bengalee Association were felicitated here for their endeavour to start the organization in 1959.

The Durga Pooja by the Bengalee Association will commence on the September 23 at 36 venues across the City. Amongst the various programmes, performance by Maharishi  Raman Blind Institute, a live performance by Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Little Champs exclusively for children are a few that can be mentioned.
