BBM student killed in mishap

Speeding car rams into motorbike; 20-year-old succumbs to head injuries

The deceased, Ajinthya Patil alias Aniket, was a second year BBM student at AMC college in Jayanagar. According to the police, Ajinthya and three of his friends set out for a trekking at Kandagiri near Nandi Hills on two bikes. He was riding pillion on a bike which his friend Vijay was riding. Both the bikes were moving on the track meant for two-wheelers on Bangalore-Bellary road. A speeding car, which entered the track, was following Vijay’s bike. Vijay applied brakes after he noticed a heavy vehicle near Chikkajala junction.

The car driver lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the bike from behind. While Vijay fell on the road and sustained minor injuries, Ajinthya was tossed up in air, fell on the car and then on the road. He succumbed to grievous internal head injuries, on the spot. The car driver fled the spot along with the car after the accident. Ajinthya is the relative of a Congress leader Prakash Patil in Bidar. The car belongs to a travel agency. Police have launched a search for the driver.

Motorist killed
A motorist was killed on the spot in a road accident near BGS College on Uttarahalli Road on Friday night. The pillion rider sustained injuries in the mishap. The deceased has been identified as Kumar (28). Shivu (20), the pillion rider, is battling for life at a private hospital.

The duo, who were in an inebriated state, were on their way to Ramanagar from KS Layout. Kumar who was riding the bike, reportedly lost his balance when he saw a tempo traveller enter the Uttarahalli road, and the motorbike rammed into the bigger vehicle. Kumar, the tempo driver, has been arrested.
