Taking part in the operation were some 2,600 police, who carried out more than 200 searches of homes and motels during which they also confiscated six handguns and two luxury SUVs without ownership papers, according to a police communique.
The report said that among the seized hallucinogens were 206 portions of marijuana and 118 of unprocessed cocaine. The police also seized several stolen motorcycles during the operation.

In the last few weeks, the number of crimes in Santo Domingo has dropped slightly, coinciding with a series of blows by the authorities including the confiscation of illegal drugs and large sums of money presumably belonging to the illegal drug trade.
