Musical fountain goes mute at Kuppanna Park

Will discuss issue with commissioner, says mayor Rajeshwari

Musical fountain goes mute at Kuppanna Park

It has been just over two months since the musical fountain at Kuppanna Park was inaugurated by the outgoing chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda.

Thanks to discontinued interest of the Mysore City Corporation (MCC), the musical fountain is gathering dust as it has remained unused after the inauguration.

The musical fountain was designed on the lines of the one at Brindavan Gardens at KRS as a tourist attraction.

Then MCC commissioner K S Raykar had said Rs 10 would be collected as entrance fee in order to maintain the musical fountain. He had said the entrance fee was needed in order to pay the electricity bill.

The project was taken up at a cost of Rs 55 lakh under the chief minister’s Rs 100 crore grant. The project was executed by BNA Technology Consultants Limited under programme director M J Sridhar.

The fountain, which is three times bigger than the one at Brindavan Gardens, stands on an area of 16x18 metres.

The music included songs in three languages — Kannada, English and Hindi.

Musical fountain

The musical fountain was equipped with the latest technology to provide entertainment to tourists.

It was equipped with infotainment software, using which the colour on the water would change depending on the tune of the song being played.

Whenever the song changes, the colour combination changes accordingly on a real-time basis.

The musical fountain also has a 90 kW power back-up, two 3HP and one 5HP pumpsets. While the project was completed in September last year, tourists are yet to enjoy it on a regular basis.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, mayor M C Rajeshwari said she had no details as to why the musical fountain was not functioning.

The mayor said she would discuss the issue with MCC commissioner and take appropriate measures.

Meanwhile, people who wanted to enjoy the musical fountain will have to wait for a longer time.
