An outdoor gym with state-of-the-art facilities was opened in the City

Sadashivnagar residents now have one more reason to celebrate a healthy living.

RMZ Corp, a leading corporate real estate developer and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), came together on Tuesday to bring to the City its first and free outdoor gym at Low Level Park, Sadashivnagar.

“I was at a public park in Turkey and saw the gym facilities there and was amazed. I had to introduce this concept to Bengaluru,” says Arjun M Menda, founder, RMZ Corp.

“As a part of our company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), we have imported these specially designed state-of-the-art equipment from Istanbul and donated it to the park,” he adds.

The gym is set up on a pilot basis and is expected to appeal to people of all ages. It offers a huge range of fitness options based on the level of intensity one can handle.

There are eight facilities one can use — from waist-stretching equipment and a skywalk to a swing board and duel walking platforms.  The Sadashivnagar residents seem quite pleased with this development and are flocking to the park to give the gym a try.  “The gym is aesthetically appealing and effective. The concept has worked abroad and should be successful here as well,” says Ram Kapai, a resident of the area.  “I used to go for a jog to Sankey Tank and go home. From now on, I have a new place to finish my workout,” he adds, with a grin.

While the public will have to pay nothing to access the gym’s facilities, the park authorities will not need to bother too much either.

The equipment can withstand any weather and requires little or no maintenance because of the high quality of materials used.

It isn’t surprising that the BBMP readily agreed to install the gym there. “The burden on the BBMP to allow this gym is zero and this is added to our park maintenance budget. We want more useful projects like this that actually aid citizens to come in,” explains M S Shivaprasad, Corporator, Aramane Nagar Ward.
“If this model of public health is received well by the residents, RMZ Corp has offered to introduce the gym facilities in other parks as well. Let’s just hope that the public is willing to try out something new,” adds Shivaprasad.

“The vision is to emulate the model elsewhere based on the absorption levels of the Sadashivnagar residents,” he states.
