'Vokkaligas to teach a lesson to BJP'

Community members stage stir in DK, Udupi against party for asking DV to step down

The Vokkaliga community members in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have started staging protests against the BJP High Command, following its move to step down D V Sadananda Gowda from the post of chief minister.

Vokkaligara Yane Gowdara Seva Sangha said that the BJP will be taught a lesson for removing D V Sadananda Gowda from the Chief Minister’s post for no reason, in the future.

Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, Sangha former president Lokayya Gowda urged the BJP high command to spell out the reasons, for asking Gowda to tender resignation, despite him delivering a clean administration in the last 11 months.

“The removal of a person who is transparent in his administration has hurt the sentiments of the community people at Sullia, Puttur and Belthnagday. In case if the party high commanad is firm with their decision to make Jagadish Shettar as the Chief Minister, then DVS should be given a suitable position in the party,” he said.

“Bowing to the mounting pressure of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and his supporters for a change in the party leadership, the BJP high command has decided to replace Gowda with Shettar keeping an eye on the next Assembly election,” he added.

The Sangha members alleged that Shobha Karandlaje is behind the political drama, which resulted in the resignation of D V Sadananada Gowda. Sangha President Narayana Gowda urged the High Commanad to suspend Shobha Karandlaje from the party for creating problems within the party.

Sadananda Gowda has given a transparent administration in his 11 months of tenure as a CM. Hailing from Dakshina Kannada district, Karandlaje has not done any work for the development of the district, he alleged.

Narayana also said that Shobha will not get any support from the Vokkaliga community in Dakshina Kannada.

Gowda said that DVS should be given the post of Party State president, in case he has to give away chief minister’s post. It was under DVS leadership that the BJP came to power in the State, for the first time in South India.

“The Vokkaliga community members should not be neglected by the party and more MLAs from the community should be given berth in the cabinet.”

In Udupi

Udupi Jilla Vokkaliga Seva Samaja members alleged that CM D V Sadananda Gowda has been made a scapegoat in the political conspiracy hatched by the former CM B S Yeddyurappa. The Samaja urged the Governor not to accept the resignation of Sadananda Gowda.

Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Udupi Jilla Okkaliga (Gowda) Seva Samaja President B M Ramesh said Sadananda Gowda is a clean politician without any sort of corrupt allegations against him.

He urged BJP high command to continue Gowda as the CM considering his corruption-free governance. If Gowda is removed from CM’s post, Vokkaliga Gowda community people will take up rigorous protest, he threatened.

Sadananda Gowda has worked from the grass root level for the BJP and he is one of the rarest of the rare politicians who has given clean governance.

Sarcastically he is made the victim of political nepotism, which is totally against the democratic principles. Caste based politics is detrimental to the development of the state, he said.
