'KSRTC depot for Gudibande, soon'

 
Presiding over a function to inaugurate the new bus stand constructed at a cost of Rs 65 lakh here on Sunday, the MLA said that the possession of the land will soon be handedover to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation to take up construction.

He said that it forms the prime responsibility of the public that the state-owned Corporation makes profits from its opearations.  He suggested that people should not forget to purchase tickets while travelling in buses.

District in-charge minister Dr Mumtaz Ali Khan said that the transportation facilities should be extended to rural parts. “It is not sufficient to extend the facility with a focus on urban areas only. Steps should be taken to see that buses are run to each village in the taluk,” he opined.

Zilla Panchayat vice-president Chenduru Venkatesh said that some villages in the taluk do not have bus facility even after 65 years of independence. He urged the authorities concerned to take steps in this regard.

Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha, Gudibande Taluk Panchayat president Y R Shivashankara Reddy, vice-president B Komalamurthy, Zilla Panchayat chief executive officer Krishnappa and others were present.
