A boy met watery grave at Kothanur lake under Subramanyapura police station limits on Thursday evening.
Police said Nagaraj (16) had gone with his brother Vasanth (13) and Mani (15), all residents of Kothnur, to swim in the lake although none of them knew swimming.
Nagaraj’s cries for help went in vain as his brother and friend watched him drown in horror. Before people could reach the spot, the boy breathed his last.
Nagaraj was an SSLC student while Vasanth is in 8th standard at Arya Vidya Shala at Gandhinagar.
